Scaling & Root Planing

Scaling and root planing, more commonly known as a deep cleaning, is a two-step process. The goal of the procedure is to help your healthy gum tissue reattach to your teeth to protect the vulnerable underlying root structure. This helps prevent tooth loss as well as keeps the disease from progressing, which can have serious implications.

Antibiotic Treatment

In combination with a deep cleaning, we may also recommend Arestin antibiotic treatment. This involves tackling the infection at its source by putting small, slow-release antibiotic microspheres in the pockets of the gums. Over the course of two weeks, the medication will continue to fight off bacteria. Paired with good oral hygiene and other interventions, we aim to restore your oral health and keep the disease from advancing.
